Arjun Jakkamreddy
Co-Founder
Background
Arjun channels the high-energy discipline of competitive basketball into every project he undertakes. He thrives in team environments and values the strategy required on the court. He complements this athletic drive with the skills of a policy debater, allowing him to articulate complex technical concepts with clarity and precision.
He applies this same dedication to engineering. In his debut science fair season, he collaborated to build a system using custom-trained neural networks and large language models. The project was a breakout success, earning 2nd place at DRSEF and a State Championship at the Texas Science and Engineering Fair.
Beyond technology, he expresses his creativity through piano and Bollywood dance. This artistic discipline is grounded in his background as a percussionist, where he performed at the Lila Cockrell Theatre after his symphony won the prestigious TMEA State Honor Orchestra title. He brings this dynamic mix of athletic resilience, creative energy, and technical innovation to the team.
Role in SmartVision
As Lead AI Engineer & Head of Clinical Research, Arjun is the technical and medical architect behind SmartVision. Merging expertise in deep learning with clinical diagnostics, he engineered the custom Vision Transformer (ViT) architecture that drives our diabetic retinopathy and cardiology modules. Beyond the code, Arjun spearheaded the clinical validation process, curating diverse medical datasets and defining the risk-stratification logic to ensure our algorithms meet rigorous safety standards. His dual focus ensures that SmartVision is not just technologically powerful, but medically responsible.
Areas of Focus
- ViT Model Architecture: Designing the core AI vision engine
- Clinical Data Validation: Ensuring medical accuracy and safety
- Diagnostic Risk Algorithms: Coding the logic for symptom severity
